Publisher's Ad for Clarel, June 1876

So G. P. Putnam's Son's issued Clarel, Melville's great poem of spiritual searching, on the same day as the "richly bound" and illustrated edition of Chiushingura; or, The Loyal League. This "Japanese Romance" was the tale of the Forty-seven Ronin, translated by Frederick V. Dickins. 

It's also interesting to see Israel Potter (published by Putnam in 1855) boldly named first as the most memorable of Melville's books in 1876, ahead of Typee and Omoo. And what a cool font they use for the publisher's name and address!
